About Jessie

Jessie Brown, PhD, LMFT

I’m glad you’re here.

My own transformational experience in therapy led me to become a psychotherapist myself, and I absolutely love what I do.

My first introduction to psychotherapy came when I was 16 years old and court-mandated to attend substance abuse counseling. At the time, I had begun emulating patterns of addiction and dysfunction that had persisted in my family for generations. Initially, I dragged my feet going to therapy. However, after some time, I grew to love it.

After establishing a trusting relationship with my therapist, I found myself eagerly awaiting our sessions. I deeply valued the self-discovery, support, and focused attention provided each week. Therapy allowed me to feel nurtured, understood, and intellectually engaged in ways I’d never experienced before. Most importantly, I gained the skills necessary to observe myself thoughtfully and respond constructively—rather than react impulsively—to my emotions and thoughts. Consequently, my mental health and relationships improved dramatically. My own journey has informed my therapeutic approach and guides my work in supporting clients through their own growth and transformation.

In the years since, alongside psychotherapy, I’ve actively pursued numerous forms of self-discovery and personal growth. As a lifelong learner, I regularly engage in training, consultation, and research to remain competent and informed in my practice. Additionally, being a partner in a committed relationship and a parent has profoundly enriched my understanding—these roles have undoubtedly been my greatest teachers.
